Chanel Haute Couture Celebrates Bohemian Spirit of Paris
Marion Dupuis - Madame Figaro
5-July-2023
With that certain "je-ne-sais-quoi" that makes all the difference, the Chanel girls paraded in front of the Seine and the Eiffel Tower. Gracefully and effortlessly enhancing the eternal myth of the Parisian woman.
Undoubtedly, the bridges of the City of Light have become the new guest stars of Parisian fashion shows. After Louis Vuitton, Kenzo (during Men's Fashion Week), and Alaïa (on Sunday evening), it's now Chanel's turn to present its autumn-winter 2023-2024 Haute Couture collection at the Port de la Conférence, on a quay framed by the Pont des Invalides (on the left) and the Pont de l'Alma (on the right). Bateaux-mouches glide along the Seine, and the guests of the Chanel show stroll past a display of booksellers showcasing painted posters of the house's friends and ambassadors. It's a picturesque setting, an iconic image of a Paris that we are not accustomed to seeing like this anymore (except, perhaps, in the series Emily in Paris). On the colorful cobblestones, the star-studded guest list - including Charlotte Casiraghi, Sofia Coppola, Carole Bouquet, Clémence Poésy, director George Lucas, Maïwenn, Margaret Qualley, artist JR, and more - strike poses for the photographers.
Parisian Muses
Vanessa Paradis, wearing a strappy jumpsuit and golden ankle boots, is also present, her long blonde hair flowing in the wind. She is the muse of this fashion show dedicated to the Parisian woman, with her uniquely charming, sophisticated yet carefree, romantic and bohemian allure. Above all, she is a cinematic figure, walking through the City of Light, leaving a hint of mystery in her wake. To further emphasize the theme, another embodiment of the Parisian woman opens the show: Caroline de Maigret, wearing an ultra-long navy blue tweed coat with ruby-colored jewel buttons, a perfect symbol of French chic. She is followed by Loli-Bahia, the model seen in Jeanne du Barry, wearing a red officer's jacket while holding a dog on a leash. There is no doubt, we are truly in Paris.
