A 'no' written in white on white, that's the surreal piece chosen by Colombian singer Shakira to attend the Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture fashion show. It's a message open to interpretation.
Shakira responded 'yes' to the invitation from the duo Viktor & Rolf on Wednesday, July 5, as part of the Haute Couture Week. However, her outfit for the event said the opposite. The 46-year-old singer showed up at the fashion show wearing a creation from the Fall-Winter 2018 collection adorned with the letters N and O, which formed a large 'no' on her chest. The robe-like coat, accompanied by a pair of Aquazzura sandals, immediately caught the attention of fans, who quickly speculated about hidden messages behind this garment with surreal accents. Two theories emerged on Shakira's Instagram account.
Music is precisely the second subject tackled by Shakira's fans who playfully comment on her outfit. "Are you going to announce a new album soon? Shakira: NO," jokes one follower, earning over a thousand likes. While the main person of interest lets her fans speculate without confirming anything, it remains true that everything so far supports their assumptions: no Gerard Piqué, nor a new album on the horizon. Shakira's hips don't lie, and neither do her clothes.
On the social media platform, a post shows her sitting in the front row of the Viktor & Rolf fashion show next to singer Camila Cabello, with her index finger raised to reaffirm her message. In the comments, there are those who imagine this 'no' being directed at Gerard Piqué. The singer and the footballer, who is ten years younger than her, ended their relationship in June 2022 after a decade together and two children, amidst rumors of infidelity. 'NO, don't try to apologize, don't insist!' mimics one user, imagining the former FC Barcelona player pleading. 'My name is no, my sign is no, my number is no... You need to let it go,' adds another, referencing lyrics from a song by Meghan Trainor.
