The British royal couple made their grand return to France, providing a moment to pause and reflect on the attire worn by Queen Camilla, designed by Dior, during the dinner hosted at the Palace of Versailles by the Élysée.
The table stretched for 250 meters, the plates meticulously arranged, and the menu featured blue lobster. But what about Queen Camilla's dress? After a visit beneath the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, where she appeared in a long blush-pink coat by British designer Fiona Clare Aldridge, the sovereign paid homage to French luxury. Queen Camilla donned a custom-made Dior haute couture gown for the dinner held at the Palace of Versailles in honor of the royal couple's presence. This exquisite ensemble was envisioned by the artistic director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, and consists of a midnight blue silk crepe evening gown paired with a cape.
An appearance that underscores the meticulous attention to diplomatic wardrobe, a hallmark of the British crown, which delights in building bridges between the countries it visits – England and the royal family. Queen Camilla sought stylistic assurance from one of France's luxury icons, whose chairman, Bernard Arnault, was present at Versailles that evening. She is also scheduled for a one-on-one meeting with Charles III the following day. A name that resonates as an homage to Elizabeth II, who was dressed by couturier Christian Dior in 1947 during her first state visit to France.
A Perfect Connection
Certainly, the opening photo shoot featuring the Macron couple also has its say: it sets the tone for the evening for most uninvited guests. That's why the outfits hold significance. They tell the story of the connection, which here aims for a dazzling symbiosis, not only through the choice of, but also through the midnight blue gowns chosen by Queen Camilla and First Lady Brigitte Macron. One in Christian Dior, the other in Louis Vuitton, both flagship brands of the LVMH Group, the French luxury giant that embodies elegance in the colors of the French flag.
