In an interview with Stylist magazine on Monday, October 9th, the 38-year-old actress extols the virtues of a popular exercise discipline created by a certain Joseph Pilates.

According to Scarlett Johansson, it's her regular practice of a well-known discipline that's responsible for her slender figure. While promoting her new cosmetics brand, The Outset, the American actress opened up to Stylist magazine on October 9th about her discovery of Pilates and its benefits for her physical well-being as well as her mental well-being.

An ally in gentle and deep muscle training

When asked about the secrets of her workout routine, Scarlett Johansson emphasizes one crucial point: consistency. The actress who plays the superhero Black Widow confirms that she exercises at least four times a week. And during these sessions, weightlifting is not her sole focus. She says, "I've been doing Pilates for about eight years, and I find it fantastic.”

Created in the 1920s by Joseph Pilates, this discipline involves gentle and slow gymnastics, emphasizing breathing, whole-body movements targeting deep muscles, core strength, and flexibility, with or without equipment. Scarlett Johansson sums it up as follows: "For me, well-being is an important part of my mental well-being. Before, I used to just lift weights, but at some point, my recovery wasn't what it used to be. I think it was due to age and bodily changes, but Pilates really helped me feel better in every way."

With her well-established learning from several years of practice, the actress even observes that Pilates is an asset for those who engage in strength training at the gym. She says, "I've reintegrated weightlifting exercises into my workout routine. I think Pilates has helped me improve in this area." This might inspire us to bring out and dust off our exercise mats.
