During an official visit to Moray, the Prince and Princess of Wales were photographed in coordinated, and very Scottish, outfits.
After a short break due to their children's school holidays, Prince William and Kate Middleton are slowly returning to their official engagements. To mark their return, the royal couple visited Scotland on Thursday, November 2, to meet organizations supporting rural communities in Moray. What caught people's attention that day was not just their return to engagements but their choice of attire. Indeed, the duo opted for coordinated clothing. The Prince and Princess of Wales were seen wearing green jackets adorned with a red poppy-shaped pin, a British symbol honoring military personnel who died in combat. They paired this with dark trousers and a pair of boots in matching brown tones.
A very Scottish look
With an outfit as practical as it was comfortable, the parents of George, Charlotte, and Louis of Wales looked every bit the perfect Scots in Scotland. This was notably thanks to Kate Middleton's jacket. Made of a blend of cotton and wool, this quilted piece stands out with its tartan pattern. An emblematic print for both the British and the Scots, which the wife of the heir to the United Kingdom often wears during official outings. Worn by George V in 1822 during a visit to Edinburgh, the tartan consequently became a national emblem symbolizing royalty.
This has made it Kate Middleton's favorite print, as in December 2022, she adopted a dress with a checkered pattern of green, blue, and red during a trip to the United States. In January 2019, in Scotland during the inauguration of the Victoria & Albert Museum Dundee, she also chose a tartan coat from Alexander McQueen, a British brand that the princess particularly favors.
