From backless to the most beautiful dress designs on the runway, the fashion industry lost another legend once again: Roberto Cavalli, the true evidence of the power of patience and consistency.
Born in Florence in 1940, the Italian designer, Roberto Cavalli, became with time a force within the fashion industry. In the 1970s, he launched his namesake fashion brand which rose to prominence after he invented a printing process of leather and created patchworks of different materials. The designer then, debuted these techniques in Paris and opened Limbo, his first small shop in Saunt-Trope in 1972.
Cavalli became known for his animal print clothing, winning commissions from the likes of Hermès and has been responsible for some of the most iconic outfits in pop culture as he often dressed Destiny’s Child in the 90s/2000s as well as the Spice Girls, Taylor Swift and basically any major celebrity.
On April 12, Roberto Cavalli died in his home in Florence, Italy at the age of 83.
Italian designer Giorgio Armani was among those to pay tribute to the late designer, saying his "Tuscan verve" would be missed. In a statement posted on Armani's social media accounts, he said: "Roberto was a true artist, wild and wonderful in his use of prints, capable of transforming fantasy into seductive clothes."
