A strategic partnership was announced with Sephora to promote sustainable practices in the beauty industry. This collaboration focuses on four key areas: reliable consumption, eco-designed point-of-sale materials, women’s empowerment, and sustainability training, with both companies committing to specific targets by 2027. The partnership aims to increase the availability of refillable, refill, and reusable products from L’Oréal’s luxury brands in the Middle East, supported by digital media campaigns and in-store visibility to encourage customer adoption. L’Oréal Middle East plans to adopt 75% eco-designed point-of-sale materials in Sephora stores under its 3R strategy, which emphasizes respecting consumers and regulations, reducing weight through innovative product design, and replacing traditional materials with those that have a better environmental footprint.
L’Oréal is also dedicated to empowering women and has partnered with a local NGO to provide training and employment opportunities for 100 underprivileged women in the beauty sector through its Beauty for a Better Life program.
The company continues its commitment to sustainability by implementing various initiatives, including Garnier's recycling program, which has successfully recycled 340 tons of waste in Saudi Arabia, promoting refillable products, and significantly reducing material usage. Partnerships with companies like Mohebi and Aramex focus on reducing CO2 emissions through the use of electric vehicles, optimized routes, and biodiesel fuels.
L’Oréal has positively impacted over 25,000 women in the region through various initiatives. The L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program has supported 51 female researchers in the GCC with AED 3.4 million in endowments. Additionally, the "Stand Up Against Street Harassment" campaign trained over 10,000 women in the GCC, and L’Oréal Professionnel's Hairdressing Academy in Saudi Arabia boasts a 70% employment rate for its graduates. Through the L’Oréal Fund for Women, AED 1.24 million was pledged to Shamsaha in Bahrain to support women’s rights. Other initiatives include the "Fight with Care" program in Saudi Arabia, aiding 1,000 cancer patients, and the NxL training program, which has enhanced the employability of 4,900 graduates since 2022.
The summit emphasized the importance of collective action for sustainability, advocating for innovative solutions and responsible resource management to create a more sustainable future. Climate Fresk, a French nonprofit organization aimed at raising public awareness about climate change, organized workshops and activities focused on green initiatives at the event, reinforcing the summit’s mission to unite stakeholders for impactful change.
