Whole Grain Bread is your best friend
Whole grains are a great source of magnesium, which helps reduce muscle tension. So if you can’t get your cramps to decrease, whole grain bread is practically the magic remedy you’ve been hoping for.
Iron? Yes please!
When a woman is on her period, the first thing she craves is iron. That’s because many women who are menstruating lose a lot of iron through the blood they eliminate. But iron doesn’t have to mean fatty foods; in fact, fatty meats can worsen the period cramps! There are many foods filled with iron that you can consume daily such as potatoes, white rice, kidney beans, and tomatoes.
Avoid processed foods
Basically anything with too much sodium is a big no if you’re on your period. And processed foods generally contain high levels of sodium, which can lead to additional bloating. You surely don’t want that, do you? That said, you have to avoid flavored nuts, canned food, pizza, processed cheese etc…
Alcohol is not a good idea
Let’s just say that every time you take a sip of an alcoholic drink, your blood flow will increase. Wow, that’s really bad news! More bad news: consuming alcohol during your period can lead to insanely painful cramps due to dehydration.
