Time Magazine’s Person of the Year is not Just One Person
They were chosen thanks to one hashtag.
8-December-2017
The 2017 Person of the Year for Time Magazine truly deserves the title. But there’s just one unusual thing: it’s not just one person… It’s a whole movement!
A woman created the hashtag #MeToo to start a movement against sexual abuse, so to thank her and the millions of women who were a part of this movement, Time has named all of them person of the year.
The magazine states, “These silence breakers have started a revolution of refusal, gathering strength by the day, and in the past two months alone, their collective anger has spurred immediate and shocking results: nearly every day, CEOs have been fired, moguls toppled, icons disgraced. In some cases, criminal charges have been brought.” They quoted Ashley Judd who spoke out about director Harvey Weinstein and Taylor Swift who came forward about the DJ who groped her.
