Michelin Star Chef Fernando Canales at Phoenicia Hotel

In collaboration with the Embassy of Spain, Phoenicia Hotel will be welcoming to Eau De Vie Michelin Star Chef Fernando Canales in celebration of Basque culinary excellence. From September 26 to 28, a refined Basque experience will enchant guests for three consecutive evenings at Eau De Vie during which Chef Canales and his team will be crafting their native specialties. A fusion of creativity and innovation, Basque cuisine undoubtedly arises as one of the best cuisines in the world. The Basque Country straddles the border between France and Spain on the coast of the Bay of Biscay. With a unique location reflecting on its cuisine, Chef Canales characterises the strength of their dishes to the country’s reliance on seafood. Passionate about his profession and in constant search for innovation, Chef Fernando Canales is an award-winning chef, TV personality and cookbook author. Amongst his many international achievements and recognitions, Etxanobe, in his native Bilbao, puts on an experience of real discovery for the senses, establishing a Michelin star culinary destination.
This celebration of cultures will also feature performances from the highly talented Flamenco dancer and singer Pilar Andujar, known as La Gipsy.
In addition to the dining experience, guests can explore the exhibition of the Council of Europe on “The Phoenicians Route” with a series of works showing its importance in the Mediterranean intercultural dialogue. Consisting of 20 billboards, the works of art reflect the Phoenician´s presence in Spain and that were gathered by the Spanish Network Association of the Phoenicians Route.
The Phoenicians Route is the connection of the great waterways that, from the twelfth century, were used by ancient civilizations as a fundamental means of communication in Mediterranean trade and cultural exchange. Through these routes, the Phoenicians gave rise to a great Mediterranean civilization. Today they are the intercultural model that serves as the basis for the Mediterranean Cultural Route, which covers several countries on three continents.
