Your favorite beauty salon is closed due to coronavirus. That doesn’t mean you can stop taking care of your hair, especially when it comes to hair dye. Professional hair colorist, Eddie Chawiche is here to tell us how to dye hair at home without making unwanted mistakes.
Eddie, who has worked with many known celebrities in the Arab world, told “Special Arabia” everything about dyeing including some interesting tips, and a Bonus hairstyle to do at home!
- How to choose the closest dye box for our hair shade?
First things first, you must check with your hair colorist and get your hair shade color number. If not, you can always choose the closest shade to your hair color, or one shade lighter. After buying the dye box, it would be useful to follow the instructions on the back.
- How many dye boxes should we buy?
It depends on hair length and type. Long hair needs more dye tubes than short hair. The same goes for thin and tick hair. You will need only one tube to dye the roots. However, to dye your hair completely, 3-4 tubes will be enough to cover your long hair.
- Which tools are needed to dye at home?
To dye your hair at home you will need: dye brush, fine tooth comb, box to mix the solution and a pair of gloves. Also, apply Vaseline all around your hairline and neck to prevent any stains on your skin.
- Any hair dyeing technique to use while dyeing the hair ourselves?
Hair must be divided into 4 sections. Always remember to start dyeing your hair from lowest sections and go gradually upwards. Also, it’s important to dye the roots first, wait around 10 mins before dyeing hair completely.
- For how long should we wait before washing the hair? Any specific shampoo?
You should wait for 30-35 mins, if you have thin straight hair, while curly hair must be left for 40 mins maximum before washing it.
Now wash your hair with warm water until the dye comes out completely. Then don’t forget to apply the conditioner and a hair mask at your hair ends for a glowy radiant effect.
- Where the hair must be washed?
Note that you must wash your dyed hair in the sink, because you don’t want any chemicals of the dye to be in contact with your body. It’s toxic for the body.
- What to do to make the color last longer?
Use products for colored hair. Make sure to use a shampoo for your hair color and most importantly without sulfate.
