The French house, Saint Laurent Paris decided to skip Paris fashion week for 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Saint Laurent made a non-expected move announcing the big news on Instagram, giving the fashion world a new vision.
After Saint Laurent’s SS20 open-air city spectacle vibe merged with a rock concert and the modern iconic tuxedo, the French house leaves the traditional runways this year and unleashes its creative and feminine feel with a new and more free way.
Saint Laurent, in its announce, first said that the house, being aware of the current circumstance and its waves of radical change, Saint Laurent has decided to take control of its pace and reshape its schedule. Following that, the brand officially announced that it will lead its own rhythm, legitimating the value of time and connecting with people globally by getting closer to them in their own space and lives, and will not present its collections in any of the pre-set schedules of 2020. Therefore, YSL will launch its collections following a plan conceived with an up-to-date perspective, driven by creativity.
On a side note, this step could be the start of the future fashion world, as London Fashion Week is set to be a virtual one in the coming September, Paris Fashion week will take place in September. Men’s fashion weeks and Haute couture weeks have been cancelled.
The Fashion house, founded in 1961, has a long history on the runways, from its iconic “Le Smoking” tuxedo to Hedi Slimane’s grunge dresses.
