As your diet changes during Ramadan, you weight will definitely change! It’s all about the decisions you take regarding your Iftar that defines how Ramadan is going to affect your weight.
To avoid gaining extra pounds during Ramadan, you need to stop these common bad habits as soon as possible. With a little attention to your Iftar diet, you’ll be fine this month.
What are the bad Iftar habits that you commit during Ramadan?
Excessive eating
It may be difficult to control yourself during Iftar with delicious foods in front of you, but it is crucial to pay attention to the amount and quality of food you eat every day during Iftar and Suhoor. Especially that traditional Ramadan dishes and sweets are rich in calories and fat, which will make you weight gain easily.
Iftar Order
It is very important for your Iftar to be organized and healthy. For example, many people ignore the soup and salads which provides you all the vitamins and minerals your body needs, and begin their Iftar with fatty dishes rich in calories.
Large amount of water
One of the bad habits everyone makes during Ramada, is drinking an enormous amount of water at one time, which shocks the digestive system, which is not ready to function properly. Therefore, try to eat slowly during Iftar, and drink water at stages and in a reasonable quantity. This helps the stomach restore its activity in a healthy way.
Ramadan drinks
Some people hydrate their body by drinking juices and Ramadan sugary drinks. This is another bad habit you should limit during Iftar to avoid gaining weight. Sure, you must enrich your body with fluids after fasting, but instead, choose water or vegetables for example, which helps hydrate your body and cleanse it of toxins.
Lack of exercise
After Iftar, you will probably feel tired and need to lay down to watch Ramadan series. Many suffer from this bad habit, especially after eating a large amount of food, as your body becomes tired and lethargic. Thus, lack of exercise will make you gain those extra pounds during Ramadan. Try to take a walk after Iftar, for instance, do let this bad habit controls you.
