5 Video Chat Apps for Distant Socializing

The world changed a lot in how we communicate with each other during social distancing and self-isolation due to coronavirus pandemic. No doubt, it would leave a huge impact after everything is over and we might keep on using some social distancing apps to communicate better in the coming weeks or months.

We were introduced to several video chat apps on both IOS and Android, which are highly used at the moment.

Find out some common video chat apps you can benefit from in your next video call, and see which ones work for conference meetings or social-distancing hangouts with friends and family.

Zoom

It is one of the most popular business video conference apps, due to its reliability and other features. However, some reports claimed that the app uses poor security standards and other shady practices. Thus, it is not recommended to discuss sensitive information.

Skype

It is also a business conference call app meant for big groups with no real time limit. Although the desktop version is weak, however Skype on mobile is very solid and reliable.

Google Duo or Hangouts

It works well for now, letting you access video calls straightforward with unlimited calls. If your friends don’t want to sign up for a new account anywhere, this is a good option.

House Party

It is a great app for a group of close friends, which let you easily join in the chat with minimal fuss. Also, there are built-in games to share with your friends and have fun, such as Heads Up and Pictionary.

WhatsApp

Although it is not the best video call app out there, however WhatsApp is popular around the world so you can easily start a video call with someone immediately. It is great for siblings or family, noting that video calls are usually limited to 4 people on WhatsApp, because it’s not its main feature.
