DIY your own perfume using your favorite scents

What if we told you that you can pick your favorite scents and make your own perfume at home? Here’s a hack: check what ingredients your favorite perfume is made of, and try to create your own.
However, before you learn how to make perfume at home, there’s some concepts you need to understand about perfume ingredients which are divided in three classes:
Top Notes
They represent the first impression of your perfume, they’re the lightest ingredients that fade quickly. The most common ones include citrus, herbs, and light fruits.
Middle Notes
These notes last longer and have a strong influence on the base notes of your perfume, they can be rose, lavender, geranium or lemongrass.
Base Notes
They are the base of your perfume that mingle with the middle notes to create your signature scent. These are generally rich scents that last for hours. Base notes include vanilla, musk, cedarwood, patchouli…
DIY Essential Oils Perfume
What You Need
2 tablespoons carrier oil: which can be jojoba oil, sweet almond or anything of your preference.
6 tablespoons of vodka
2 ½ tablespoons bottled water
30 drops of essential oil: 9 for your top notes, 15 for your middle notes, and 6 for your base notes
A small funnel
Coffee filter
2 clean dark glass bottles with tight lids
How To Do It
- Pour your preferred carrier oil into one of the glass bottles. A
- Add your essential oils gradually: base, middle, and then top notes.
- Add the alcohol.
- Secure the lid, and let your perfume sit for 48 hours.
The longer you let your perfume sit, the stronger the scent becomes, thus, you can leave it for up to 6 weeks!
- Once you obtained your signature scent, add water to it, and shake the bottle vigorously for 1 minute.
- Use the filter and funnel to transfer the scent to the other bottle.
