Not all women have long and thick curly eyelashes; therefore many of us apply mascara after curling their eyelashes or apply fake lashes instead, in order to get that attractive look with minimum of makeup on. However, fake lashes can highly damage your real eyelashes and make them fall out. So the best solution is either to either apply mascara, without overdoing it, or use natural oils to increase their growth and strength.

The benefits of castor oil for eyelashes
Castor oil (extracted from the seeds of castor plant) has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. It is a rich source of nutrients; proteins, minerals and fatty acids, such as oleic, linoleic and stearic acids. Thus, it has great aesthetic benefits for hair, because it contains natural compounds that promote hair growth, including eyelashes.
Castor oil contains vitamin E
Vitamin E acts as a powerful antioxidant, moisturizes your eyelashes and prevents them from falling out. It also repairs hair follicles damage, which enhances hair growth, consequently.
Castor oil is rich in ricinolic acid
Castor oil also contains a high amount of ricinolic acid: it is an omega-8 fatty acid, which accelerate eyelashes growth and repairs all damaged eyelashes.
How to use castor oil on your lashes

You will need:
Castor oil
Clean mascara brush
How to apply castor oil to eyelashes:
- Wash your entire face and the eyes area to remove any remaining makeup.
- Dip a clean mascara brush in castor oil.
- Apply the oily mascara on the lashes from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner.
- Make sure to apply it completely on the eyelashes.
- If there’s excess oil, you can wipe it from under your eyes for instance.
- Leave it overnight.
- The next day, wash gently your eyes to remove the oil completely.
- Try not to apply mascara afterwards, for example, because it will likely slip away.
Castor and olive oil:
- You can apply the same method, but instead of mix castor oil with olive oil with your mascara brush before applying the mixture to your lashes.
- In the morning, wash the oil thoroughly with a makeup remover or soap with water.
- Make sure to completely remove both oils to prevent dust sticking on your eyelashes.
