Beauty Trend Alert: Dolphin Skin

Since summer goes in tune with a radiant skin and glowy makeup, a beauty trend on Instagram came in the right moment: “Dolphin Skin”. Here’s all you need to know about it and few tips for obtaining this ultra-fresh and luminous complexion.

Glowy, silky smooth skin just like a dolphin’s, this new beauty trend combines both good skincare and makeup skills, originally launched by US makeup artist Mary Phillips, who takes care of celebrities’ makeup such as Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Kim Kardashian. The celebrities’ MUA shared her tips to obtain the Dolphin Skin using Iconic London makeup products.

Hydration for dewy-looking skin

The goal is to have this glowy makeup without having an oily feeling. The key to achieve this radiant complexion is hydration. Before applying makeup, it is recommended to moisturize your skin using serum following a moisturizing cream. Next, we need to apply luminous makeup product, like highlighter, on the cheekbones, under the eyebrow line and on cupid's bow (the top of your upper lip). Complete the look with iridescent eyeshadow, and for a water-effect look, use a sheer gloss on the lips for the final touch.

Dolphin Skin for everyday look

After asking Tom Sapin, a makeup artist at MAC Cosmetics, he recommended using a liquid highlighter for a better “wet-effect” or very dewy skin makeup look. However, Tom warns not to abuse of this highlighter and using it on the right spots of the face.

“The rendering is perfect for videos and photos on Instagram ... But use it less for everyday look,” Tom says.

Therefore, the makeup expert recommends focusing the highlighter on the cheekbones, temples or even the upper forehead and avoiding the T-zone. Also avoid the middle of the forehead, which tends to shine by itself during summer. The idea is to gain glow ... avoiding any greasy effect.
