The fashion industry is still trying to recover from the losses caused by the pandemic and its negative impact on sales rate that dropped during lockdown measures for the past few months. Everyone was affected negatively from big fashion houses to independent designers. While fashion houses are trying to cope with this new normal, recreating their new vision of runways to showcase their latest designs, others are struggling with their financial losses due to Covid-19, including Victoria Beckham.
Victoria Beckham is dismissing 20 of her staff at her fashion label, as this redundancy will be a bid to save the fashion label after its losses due to coronavirus pandemic, according to a report published by The Sun. Also, Mrs Beckham's company will also halve the number of annual fashion collections after being hard-hit by the Covid-19 crisis.
The spokesperson of the former pop signer who turned into a designer said in this regard: “We have built a new strategic vision to streamline and future-proof the brand and, sadly, have to make redundancies to deliver this.”
Therefore, Victoria was forced to make an embarrassing step over plans to ask for taxpayer cash to pay dozens of staff during the crisis. It is said that the British designer is going through hard times, as her fashion label was her joy and it has never been about money, noting that she hasn't paid herself for the past three years.
According to the Daily Mail, Mrs Beckham’s fashion label, launched in 2008, made losses of £12.3million in 2018.
