Princess Diana’s beauty secrets revealed
According to her former makeup artist

From the shy young girl who married Prince Charles to the free woman, Lady Diana's transformation is simply dazzling. Although Princes William and Harry’s mother suffered from a lack of self-confidence, however, she has learned over the years, while her popularity was growing, to assert herself, becoming an icon hailed around the world.
Yet her beauty routine is nothing exceptional. The Princess often opted for a natural look. While her fancy one, consists of blue eyeliner (she used in particular a kohl from the Elizabeth Arden brand) to highlight her lagoon eyes.
If Diana Spencer respected the sobriety of the royal family, she decided to base her beauty routine on her eyes. "She used to love to enhance her amazing eyes and didn't skip on mascara," Mary Greenwell, the Princess' former makeup artist, told Yahoo in August 2017.
The makeup artist started working with the Princess in 1991. She was able to eventually convince her to abandon this famous signature liner.
“It wasn't particularly suitable for someone who has to change their look every five seconds. She had to change her makeup every bit. And that hasn't changed dramatically. I think sweeping transformations aren't for people who work in the White House or who belong to the royal family, because that's just not appropriate.”
Lady Diana therefore gave up this detail and went for adopting shades that suit her more, following the make-up artist’s advice: "I think beiges and brown tones were much more suitable for her."
The best foundation
Lady Diana knew how to create the perfect foundation that of English roses: peachy flawless skin. However, the Princess had a "very sensitive" skin, as Mary Greenweell explained to the Stylist website in 2012. "She made sure to remove makeup completely at night and to apply her makeup to perfectly cleansed skin as well."
Among her other secrets, the makeup artist talks about a good night’s sleep, exercising and following a healthy diet. “After we met, Diana did everything in moderation. She reduced her alcohol consumption, resulting in her skin looking its best."
And to highlight her excellent base, the instructions are simple: “We always started with a moisturizer, then used a foundation that matches her skin tone, a concealer to brighten the eye area. Then we would choose a mascara, a light blush and lipstick matching her mood of the day. I used to remind her to make sure that she applied her mascara well at the roots of her lashes.”
Favorite fragrances
Princess of Wales was clearly not a woman with a single perfume, choosing her favorites over the course of her life. However, one fragrance remains her favorite: the floral scents.
To exchange her vows with Prince Charles, she chose Some Flowers by Houbigant Paris. Barbara Daly, who had the honor of putting on her make-up on her big day, shares a small incident that occurred on the royal wedding day: as she was trying to put perfume on her wrists, the future bride spills it on her dress as reported by the People Royals website. Should we think of it as a bad omen?

Among other fragrances that the princess wore regularly are: 24 Faubourg d'Hermès, Diorissimo by Dior (which she had in common with Princess Grace of Monaco), L'air du temps by Nina Ricci, BlueBell by Pentaghlion's or even Mitsouko from Guerlain.
“She always wore perfume, which is something very important in every woman's life. It's final touch of beauty,” Mary Greenwell told ABC News in 1994.
