Georges & Amal Clooney Donated $100K to Beirut Relief

The couple said they were "deeply concerned" for the people of Beirut, who were left homeless after the double explosion on Tuesday August 4th, 2020.
Tragic incident in Beirut: The blast which took place at Beirut’s port left more than 150 dead, 5,000 injured, not to forget the missing citizens and the 300,000 homeless.
For Lebanon’s disaster relief, Georges Clooney and Amal Alamuddin announced that they are donating $100.000 for Lebanese associations and charities.
“We’re both deeply concerned for the people of Beirut and the devastation they’ve faced in the last few days,”
said the couple in a statement reported by People.
They also made sure to divide the sum between three charities which are providing aid for the affected people, as they said:
"Three charitable organizations we've found are providing essential relief on the ground: the Lebanese Red Cross, Impact Lebanon, and Baytna Baytak. We will be donating $100,000 to these charities and hope that others will help in any way they can."
Earlier this year, the Clooney's donated more than $ 1 million for coronavirus relief.
From Lebanese origins
Amal Alamuddin Clooney was born in Beirut in a wealthy Druze family. However, she fled the war in her native country in the early 1980s to settle in a peaceful village at the outskirts of the London metropolitan area where Amal attended secondary school.
Amal went to St Hugh's College at the University of Oxford, then University of New York, where she studied international law. She became a human rights lawyer with many prestigious personalities as clients, such as the founder of Wiki Leaks Julian Assange, the former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko or even Saif al-Islam, the son of Libyan Colonnel Muammar Gaddafi.
