After the apocalypse of Beirut following the massive explosion in August 4th, 2020, Lebanese fashion houses and designers were affected among others, including Lebanese designer Sandra Mansour whose first collaboration with H&M has been postponed. The Sandra Mansour x H&M collection was supposed to be available for online shopping on August 6, 2020.
However, H&M announced that the launch of its first collaboration with an Arab designer will be postponed to August 27, 2020.
“The inspiration for the H&M collaboration was nature and natural elements. Especially the sunflower, which represents the cycle of life, and its dependency on sun and light. Poetry and painters inspired the selection of fabric – the dark laces, jacquards, and embroidered organza. With the Fleur du Soleil collection, I want to talk to women around the world by sending a message of hope, something we really need right now,” says Sandra Mansour, the Lebanese designer, regarding her “Fleur du Soleil” collection with H&M “
