It’s chic to repeat

For the 77th edition of Venice Film Festival, where she is heading the jury, Cate Blanchett announced that she’ll be wearing outfits previously worn during past events.
The Australian actress has been known for her outstanding style on the red carpet; from a golden Balenciaga fringed dress at the 2007 Met Gala to a rainbow Givenchy turtleneck design at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018, to one of Armani Privé gowns worn at the Oscars. The actress always makes sure to win the fashion game at the red carpet.
At the 77th Venice Film Festival, which has kicked off on September 2, Cate Blanchett also intends to mark the event with a militant look.
Few days before the start of the festival, the actress announced that she will not show up in any new outfits throughout the 10-day film festival, where she’ll be the jury next to Ludivine Sagnier and Matt Dillon. It’s a good way to highlight the environmental cause during the first international film festival to resume since the start of the Covid-19 crisis.
“It's not a mandate (to other guests), it's a provocation” she stated in an interview with Women’s Wear Daily. "It's just to do it when it's possible."
To mark her words, the Hollywood actress showed up at the opening of Venice Film Festival 2020 in a blue Esteban Cortázar fitted dress with white trims, worn previously at BFI London Film Festival for the premiere of her film Carol back in 2015.
“I opt for whatever I find in my attic,” the actress joked, “It's also an opportunity to dust off my wardrobe and check what I have.”
