Her Start-ups
At the age of 14, Camila moved to the United States with her mother, where she finished high-school and chose to pursue her dream in the make-up world. Skipping college, she started directly working at the Dior makeup counter at her local Macy’s against her mother’s wishes. Coelho said to “I suck at life Podcast”:
“looked at her in the eye and I said, ‘Mom I promise you that I am going to make you proud’ and I get chills saying that because I kept that in my mind since that day, and my biggest wish was to do something that was going to make my mom proud”.
And we think her mom couldn’t be prouder!
While working at the Dior makeup counter, Coelho started her Youtube channel where she uploaded her favorite looks and created tutorials. What was a passion to Camila, turned quickly into content that reached over 15 million people around the world. She has also been seen front row at top fashion shows runways including Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Max Mara and others, in addition to attending red carpet galas and film festivals.
Coelho in Fashion
You always have a first love in life, but Coelho proved that a heart can have two loves. While beauty was her first, fashion couldn’t be but her first also. If you go over her Instagram, you will definitely fall in love with her influencing, stylish, and catchy outfits.
As for her namesake label “The Camila Coelho Collection”, it debuted with Revolve in June 2019, with a collection of 70 pieces, all of which are inspired by Coelho's Brazilian roots. The line sold out online within minutes of launch and continues to grow with great success.
“End Epilepsy” Ambassador
On the 10th of February this year, Epilepsy Foundation announced the addition of Camila to its family as an END EPILESPY ambassador. She, since then, has been serving as an advocate on behalf of and for people living with this central nervous system (neurological) disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behavior.
She is one of 710 thousand Latinos in the United States living with epilepsy and she shared her story with the world earlier.
