Did you know that you can be spreading bacteria all over your face with that 2 months unwashed makeup brush? Dermatologists have always warned of real skin issues when using dirty brushes for so long. Makeup brushes and beauty blenders should be washed regularly for better-looking skin when applying makeup. Here’s all you need to know how, why and when to do the wash.
When?
Experts, dermatologists and makeup artists agree that regularly used brushes should be cleaned once a week to avoid product accumulation on the brush, which can lead to bacteria. Eye makeup brushes can be cleaned less often.
When your makeup brush starts losing its shape and fray, washing it is a useless step because it’s time to let go of that piece.
How?
Cleaning your makeup brushes demands some patience and smoothness so that you don’t damage the hairs. What you use to clean the brush is an important trick. For natural hair brushes, use a gentle cleanser. Baby shampoo or regular shampoo with warm water could do the job. If you choose to use this method, try not to press hard so that little hairs don’t start falling or the brush doesn’t lose shape.
When it comes to synthetic brushes, you can use regular soap with warm water. Keep turning your brush around the soap and rinsing softly until the brush hairs take their original color, as a cleanliness sign.
