In Dior SS21 collection, shown at the first day Paris Fashion week that kicked off on September 28th, Creative and image director for Dior Makeup Peter Philips created makeup looks in which the eyes are framed with black eye-liner that contrasts with a natural and luminous complexion.
“I wanted to focus on the eyes and emphasize them powerfully by framing them with very dense, matte black liner.” says Philips.
Here are all the details with some tricks from Philips for a glamorous and powerful makeup look, just like the one presented on Dior Spring 2021 runway. Take notes!
Eyes
To draw attention to the eyes, Philips used the 5 Couleurs Couture 649 Nude Dress Palette, applied on the upper eyelid. And to create a strong graphic look, he traced the eyeliner along the upper and lower lash lines, using the Diorshow 24h Stylo 091 in matte black, but without stretching it at the outer corner of the eye, also the line is neither thin nor thick.
For a more intense look, he coated the lashes with Diorshow iconic Overcurl 090 black, then gave the eyebrows a light touch with the Diorshow Brow Styler and the Diorshow Pump ‘n’ Brow for a natural look.
Skin
Peter Philips sees that a luminous and natural complexion needs a well prepped and hydrated skin. He explains his routine:
First the Energy Super Potent Serum followed by Capture Totale c.e.l.l. energy, then the firming and wrinkle-correcting cream.
And to prepare the skin well, Makeup creative and image director applied the Dior backstage Face& Body Primer 001 Universal, which blurs flaws and ensures perfect wear for the Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation, with shades chosen to match each skin tone. The final touch is the Dior Forever Skin Correct.
Lips
Philips smoothed the lips with Dior Lip Sugar Scrub 001 in pink, then used Dior lip Maximizer 001 also in pink to hydrate the lips.
Nails
For the nails, Dior Vernis Muguet was applied.
Hair
Models at the Dior show kept their own hairstyles for a natural look, as some of them wore headscarves while others wore headbands with veils.
