Ingredients
2 and 1/4 teaspoon dry yeast
4/3 cup of warm milk
3 and a half cups of flour
1/4 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
1/4 cup soft butter
2 eggs, room temperature
4/3 cup of dried fruit
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
How to prepare
Mix milk with yeast and a tablespoon of sugar. Leave aside for 10 minutes.
In another bowl, combine flour, salt, yeast mixture, butter and eggs until a cohesive dough is formed.
Add dried fruit, cinnamon and nutmeg to the dough and cover with cling film. Set aside for 2 hours, until it doubles in size.
Divide the dough into two parts, and each section into eight balls. Arrange the balls in an oven tray on baking paper and set them aside for 30 minutes.
Beat one egg with one tablespoon of milk and brush the balls with the mixture.
Bake in a preheated oven for 12 minutes, then set aside to cool.
At this time, mix 1 tablespoon of milk with 4 tablespoons of caster sugar. Place the mixture in a plastic bag and cross-stripes each piece before serving.
