The first hijab-wearing supermodel is working on a new project with Tommy Hilfiger.
Back in November, Somali-American model Halima Aden took to Instagram to call it quit for the runwaysbecause the sector “forced her to change her beliefs” according to her. Almost 6 months later, Aden, who is well-known for being one of the first models to wear a hijab and walk for major fashion labels, announced working on a new exciting project with one of the leading American brands Tommy Hilfiger.
“Shooting a super special project with one of my favorite designers Tommy Hilfiger” captioned Halima her picture with the master mind designer Tommy Hilfiger.
The designer replied: “Great day with you Halima!!” and the brand also commented: “Exciting Times ahead!”.
This is not the first time that Aden has worked with the brand, and with this announcement, she’s clearly taking a few steps back into the fashion scene. The one who became the first model to wear hijab and burkini in the pages of Sports Illustrated in 2019, seems to have missed her 1.3 million followers on Instagram, just like they missed her too.
The 23-year-old humanitarian grew up in a Kenyan refugee camp before she flew to Minnesota with her family. And that’s where she became a semi-finalist in the Miss Minnesota USA beauty pageant. She then got noticed for her modest image and style and made national headlines before she signed to a modelling agency, and the success in the fashion industry was just around the corner for the stunning young woman.
