Forget all about aggressive contouring and too much makeup; The approach of Gunther Hilgartner, international make-up artist for Givenchy, is so simple that we wonder why everyone doesn't do the same. His goal: to sublimate the natural beauty of women.
We had the pleasure of meeting him during his stay in Beirut, and it was with great kindness that he gave us his best beauty tricks.
Why Givenchy?
My relationship with Givenchy began 25 years ago with the great actress Audrey Hepburn and Monsieur Hubert de Givenchy. I first started working with Givenchy on makeup for parades, and when the house launched its makeup collection, I was attracted by the simplicity of both classic and sophisticated products.
Tell us about the Super Stellar collection for Autumn 2016.
The Super Stellar collection celebrates the woman who juggles between her professional and personal life: the elegant and classic simplicity of a daytime make-up, and the haunting tones for voluptuous evening make-up.
After 40 years, should we use eyeliner or eyeshadow?
Both are possible, but take it easy: Make a very thin outline of your upper lashes if you choose the eyepencil or eyeliner, and opt for eye shadows with nude or clear shades rather than dark or pearly ones. One last piece of advice: your makeup must be harmonious with your outfit and appropriate for the occasion: work, day time, night out...
What is your definition of beauty?
For me, beauty rhymes with simplicity and a smile. Every woman has something that makes her unique, so the idea is to emphasize it, add a light and fresh makeup and a bright smile, and voila!
