Iris Apfel: 100 Never Looked That Pretty And Youthful

Iris Apfel turned 100 and she is ready for the celebrations to kick off with a mood that’s even more youthful than ours! 

A once in a lifetime fashion icon, the first lady of fabric, and an accidental iconic interior designer, Iris Apfel turns 100 today and is ready to celebrate, because “it’s not everyday that you get to turn 100” as she captioned her birthday picture on instagram, while sitting between her balloons. 

On her Instagram bio, we can read: “More is more and less is bore”, and if you’ve ever been a follower of the fashion icon, you’d realize how of a “more” person she is, whether with her exaggerated and bold styling or with the youthful mentality she lives in. She’s the wisest with a big heart and a sharp mind. 

The American businesswoman and interior designer founded an international textile company with her husband, Carl from 1950 until 1992. Not only her career in the fashion industry was outstanding but her Interior designing skills also had their moment: she had a contract with the White House as an interior designer spanning nine presidencies; she worked with the Kennedys, the Clintons… 

When we say Iris Apfel, we can’t but think of individuality, success, and uniqueness, because only her can be MAC Cosmetics’ cover girl at the age of 90 years old and a model at the age of 97 (after signing with IMG). 

She’s a jewelry and accessories major lover, and she’s the most daring at styling them. She drew acclaim for a 2005 show at the Costume Institute at The Metropolitan of Art featuring her collection of costume jewelry and styled with clothes on mannequins as she would wear it.
