It’s all in the “jeweled” details! Spotted on Dior Cruise show as well as on the red carpet, the jewel adorned hairstyle is the perfect alternative to veils and other flower crowns for brides or parties. Zoom on the latest delicate – and poetic – trend lately seen on Alicia Keys.
The jewel adorned hair trend continues to grow on the red carpet, embellishing celebrities’ middle or side hair parts – but also the hair in general – with pearls and diamonds. A great way to give the hair an exquisite charm and to reinvent classic adornments.
Alicia Keys is the latest celebrity embracing the trend, recently showing off her pearl adorned braid on her Instagram account. A delicate and romantic option that could inspire future brides, or moreover the end-of-year celebrations perfectly topping off a little black dress, a jumpsuit or a timeless smoking.
Pearls have undeniably invaded the heads, from eyes to hair, as witnessed at the Dior Cruise 2022 runway show held last June in Athens. A collection characterized by a series of wonderfully inspiring white dresses and perfect hairstyles - namely the jewel adornment in the middle part - for future brides, reinventing the traditional choices offered to them. Fresher than the classic veil and rarer than the bohemian flower crown, this precious detail has every reason to become the upcoming trend.

It comes in particular as an attractive suggestion for those who have surrendered to the charm of the sleek short bob, the biggest haircut trend of the season. Indeed, many future brides have broken the habit of letting their hair grow to embrace a tousled or a graphic bob haircut, highlighting the middle part with a piece of jewelry and - making all the difference.
At Dior, the detail appears with pearls, extending to the eye makeup. A version already adopted by actress Lucy Boynton during the 2020 Oscars ceremony.
Another way to embrace this unique option is to be inspired by Charlize Theron who had stunned on the red carpet at Screen Actors Guild Awards in January 2020 with a Tiffany silver jewel adorned short hairstyle.
How to hop on the trend?
There are many ideas out there if you’d like to follow the trend. You can, for instance, fix a long barrette at the base of your hair or just visit a hair professional to get a real jewel set on your hair for your big day.
However, it is important to be careful about some unproven techniques. Lucy Boynton's hairstylist, Jenny Cho, revealed in an Allure magazine article that she used Gorilla Glue to fix the pearls to the actress' hair at the Oscars. She had then retracted the statement on her Instagram account a few days later, after generating a bad buzz caused by the use of this product which can lead to hair loss. She would have simply resorted to self-adhesive beads, or going for a safer option as did the hairstyling team on the Dries Van Noten Spring / Summer 2014 show, fixing golden leaves on hair wax.

When not turning to this luxurious option, using a colored blusher to tint hair partings is a practice regularly adopted by make-up artists on backstage.
In any case, it is preferable to set a pre-wedding hair trial and previously express your desires to your hairdresser in order to find the best creative solution.
