After the surprise exit of Bottega Veneta’s creative director Daniel Lee that came after three years of amazing work that led to a remarkable growth of the Italian luxury label, Bottega Veneta has announced the appointment of Matthieu Blazy as the new creative director “within immediate effect”.
The Paris-born, 37-year-old designer, Matthieu Blazy graduated from La Cambre in 2007 in Brussels and has worked at several luxury fashion houses including Raf Simons, Maison Martin Magiela and Celine, with Raf Simon’s being his first stop in the career as a men’s designer.
“Matthieu Blazy is an extraordinarily talented individual, whom I am proud and excited to entrust with the creative helm of our luxury house,” said Leo Rongone, Chief Executive Officer of the company, in a statement issued at the end of trading on Monday, confirming the appointment.
Between Milan and Antwerp, Blazy was always behind the scenes and he was expected to rise in the fashion industry one day. This day has come, as the French and Belgian national was Lee’s Number two and right hand at Bottega Veneta.
Blazy will present his first collection for Bottega Veneta in February 2022.
