Kate Middleton More Majestic Than Ever at Elizabeth II's Funeral

A pillar of the royal family, the new Princess of Wales paid her last respects to Elizabeth II at her funeral in Westminster Abbey.
"The Princess of Wales was resplendent." These are the words of the Daily Mail about Kate Middleton's appearance at Westminster Abbey on September 19 in London. Accompanied by her children, George and Charlotte, the wife of Prince William paid her last respects to Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on Thursday, September 8, at the age of 96.
For this funeral watched by the whole world, Kate Middleton has, as usual, redoubled her elegance. Dressed entirely in black as is the tradition, the new Princess of Wales opted for an elegant black outfit and heeled pumps. The whole, associated with a black hat with veil.
A symbolic set
Kate Middleton also wore two symbolic jewels: one borrowed from Queen Elizabeth II, and the other from Lady Diana. The one belonging to the Queen is a "Japanese" necklace with four strings. As its name suggests, it’s composed of four strands of pearls linked by a diamond clasp, this necklace was commissioned by Queen Elizabeth II in person to the jeweler Garrard, who made it from cultured pearls given to the monarch by the Japanese government.
After having often worn it during the 1980s and 1990s, the Queen of England had sometimes entrusted this precious necklace to members of the Windsor clan. Among them Lady Di (during a state banquet in the Netherlands in 1982), and more recently, Kate Middleton. The Princess of Wales was photographed with it in 2017, on the occasion of the 70th wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip, but also in 2021 at the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh.
For the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II this Monday, Kate Middleton also wore a pair of diamond and pearl earrings that belonged, this time, to Princess Diana.
