Making art its raison d’être since 1828, Guerlain has unveiled more than a perfume; L’Heure Bleue is a real masterstroke.
To celebrate the 110th anniversary of L’Heure Bleue, Guerlain showcases the perfume in a prestigious artist edition, limited to 30 unique pieces worldwide, created in partnership with the Yves Klein Archives. A spectacular 1.5-litre format of the iconic “inverted heart” bottle imagined by Raymond Guerlain in 1912, entirely painted with the mythical International Klein Blue (IKB) patented by the artist.
L’Heure Bleue inspired by the fleeting moment when “the night has not yet found its star”, in the words of its creator, Jacques Guerlain. And Yves Klein’s vibrant ultramarine, immortalised by the French artist in the revolutionary monochromes that were his way of seeing “what was visible in the absolute”. A meeting as evident as destiny: that of modern art’s two most iconic blues.
What makes L’Heure Bleue so captivating is that, just like the elegant Parisiennes who embraced it. Delicacy and sensuality are what match femininity’s facets.
The bottle becomes a sculpture, adorned with the same pure, velvety blue as the sky when the “blue hour” that inspired L’Heure Bleue spreads its magic.
As blue as Paris in the twilight. As blue as the violet and iris that wrap it in delicate powdery notes... Of all the fragrances composed by Jacques Guerlain, L’Heure Bleue may well be the most romantic. And yet, the scent conceived during the perfumer’s walk on the banks of the Seine at the end of a summer afternoon in 1912 is also a uniquely powerful creation. An accord both so endearing and so deeply distinctive that it remains as moving today as it was in the belle époque when it was conceived.
