Polar Tights: A Must-Have this Winter
Rose Casado - Madame Figaro
5-January-2023
For several weeks, this pair of tights presented as revolutionary is all the rage on social networks.
Here is a pair of tights stealing the show from the influencers on TikTok. The garment alone has accumulated more than 8.3 million views. Its particularity is not so lambda: it is fleecy, made from polyester and elastane. Most of the videos dedicated to it talk about its thermal properties (it promises to keep your legs warm down to -15 degrees), while giving the illusion of wearing traditional tights. Understand: in appearance it seems very thin, despite the thickness of the fabric (a fleece lining), and transparent because of a flesh color veiled with a black tights effect print. Its virality is due to this trompe-l'oeil game. Its price varies between 5 euros and 20 euros depending on the brands that sell it, like Shein, Aliexpress, Amazon, or Calzedonia.
"My best buy for Christmas", "the legs do not look bigger"... In the comments of the many test videos, many users are satisfied. However, some of them point out that the black surface "cracks quickly", like any traditional pantyhose. Not enough to discourage consumers: the craze goes beyond the Chinese social network. The Google search engine records an explosion of searches for "thermal tights" (+150%) or "polar tights transparent effect" (+80%) over the past thirty days. Queries that do not say if we are on a simple fashion effect or a trend.
