Artistic Director of the brand with the crocodile Louise Trotter announced her departure this Friday, January 6.
Louise Trotter has reported her departure from Lacoste, after a little over four years at the head of its artistic direction. Via an Instagram post published on January 6th, the designer explains that "it's time to say goodbye." Appointed in October 2018, the Briton had become the first woman in this position at the time, since the creation of the brand by Rene Lacoste in 1933. From her first show at London Fashion Week in early 2019 to her last presentation last September, Louise Trotter has been working to perpetuate Lacoste's sporting identity.
"Without style, playing and winning is not enough”
The founder of the brand, Olympic medalist in 1924 used to say that "without style, playing and winning is not enough". A sporty vision of style, that Louise Trotter has kept in her nets. A soft mix of archives, between evocations of tennis, cycling or basketball, came to punctuate the collections.
The president of Lacoste said in a statement: "I thank Louise Trotter for her creativity, her commitment and for her contribution to the brand's heritage. Lacoste is now embarking on a new chapter, with a collective of creatives committed to working alongside Lacoste to share talent and connections. Beyond designing collections, our brand wants to go even further in its mission to connect cultures and communities." From now on, the brand will be led by several artistic directors, like Gucci or Jean-Paul Gaultier.
