This unusual makeup accessory from the "K-Beauty" has become viral on social networks.
More than 5.7 billion views are posted on TikTok for the trend named "spatula foundation". The social network lists the many tutorials of professionals and amateurs who try this unusual makeup technique inspired by the "Korean Beauty". As its name suggests, this method consists in applying its foundation with a long and thin stainless steel spatula. According to the reviews and on-screen demonstrations that accumulate on the platform, this simple trick would allow to spread the product evenly and create a natural "perfect skin" look.
A beautiful complexion without effort
If it makes the buzz today, this accessory is not however new in the beauty industry. On TikTok, there is no shortage of tutorials from Korean make-up artists who have been using it for years. According to the experts, you must first put a few drops of liquid foundation on the back of your hand. Then, slide the sharp side of the blade over the fluid, so that the formula is distributed along its entire length and a third of its width. Next, simply spread the material on one cheek, placing the spatula vertically and working from the center of the face outward. After doing the same thing on the other side, you can repeat the same gesture on other more precise areas such as the forehead, the chin and the wings of the nose.
Finally, there is only to tap the product with a classic makeup sponge in order to make it penetrate well into the skin, harmonize the whole and ensure a good hold. Thus, as proven by the multitudes of videos posted by Internet users, the foundation is distributed evenly all over the skin, in a very thin layer, almost translucent for an "enhanced natural" effect.
"Glass skin"
This method is in high demand especially because it is one of the steps in the Korean women's beauty routine to achieve their famous "glass skin" look copied all over the world. Indeed, the foundation spatula contributes to the appearance of smooth, radiant and "flawless" skin that is attributed to them.
