Actress Selena Gomez was nominated in the category of best actress in a musical or comedy TV series, at the Golden Globes ceremony held on January 10, 2023.
She appeared dressed in a stunning Valentino dress with puffed sleeves and bare shoulders. Selena Gomez has marked the spirits at the 80th ceremony of the Golden Globes, rewarding the talents of film and television. The singer and actress was nominated for her role in the series Mabel Moral, on Hulu. Accompanied by her 9-year-old sister, Gracie Elliott Teefey, the latter nevertheless drew criticism from some fans, because of her weight gain. "She's really fat," one reads notably on Twitter.
A flood of hateful comments that she took with detachment and humor. Indeed, in the cab that took her home, the one has who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2018, has made a video on social networks to respond to his detractors. "I'm a little fat right now because I had a lot of fun during the vacations," she said in front of the camera, before turning her head to her younger sister and asking her "isn't it?"
Note that Selena Gomez, who is particularly careful with her mental health, had withdrawn from social networks, although she was the most followed person in the world on Instagram. The actress of Only Murders in the building had made this choice in 2019, because the negative comments affected her too much. To mark her return to Instagram, a few days ago, the singer posted three selfies of her, taken in her bathroom, and captioned with: "Wait, you mean I'm back?"
Body-shaming
This is not the first time that the star is a victim of body-shaming on social networks. Last April, she spoke out in a Tiktok video to defend the body positive attitude, advocating the acceptance of all body types. "I try to stay thin but I went to Jack in the Box (famous American fast food chain, editor's note) and I had four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings and a spicy chicken sandwich." Before adding: "But honestly I don't care about my weight because people will complain anyway: 'You're too small', 'you're too fat', 'it's not right', I'm perfect the way I am. Moral of the story? Goodbye". Decidedly, Selena Gomez remains faithful to herself.
