We knew his trompe-l'oeil t-shirt, we smiled at the sight of his pigeon bag ... JW Anderson never fails to surprise us. At Milan Fashion Week, January 15th, the British designer made a sensation by unveiling a brand new accessory in his wardrobe: rubber frog clogs.
Available in several colors (yellow, blue and green), these mules far from being ordinary have particularly attracted attention around the catwalk in Milan. Especially since they have the merit of having been manufactured by the British brand Wellipets, whose legendary frog boots were worn by Princes Harry and William when they were children. As a proof, a picture from June 6, 1987, where the two sons of Charles and Diana attend a polo match in the rain.
For Jonathan Anderson - his real name - this cultural reference is "family", almost reassuring and comes from "childhood memories", he said in a press release quoted by CNN. Instead of the large Wellipets boots, originally designed for children, JW Anderson has this counterpart relied on a shorter version, slip on in the blink of an eye. A model somewhat simpler to draw in the street, which will however wear the most daring.
While we could have expected that the rubber frog mules divide, the reaction on social networks has been unanimous and so far very positive. What to revive the success of Wellipets, boosted in the late 1980s by Lady Diana: the latter had relied on this house created in 1983, and whose emblem is a frog, to protect the feet of her two little princes.
