28-October-2020
For the first time ever in history of the Middle Eastern Fashion industry, the Arab world is welcoming 6 Parisian designers to take part of the Arab Fashion Week, which will take place in Dubai.
The 6 French labels are a delegation from the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM), part of the Arab Fashion Council’s “Welcome to the Arab World” initiative, a new project which aims to connect the French designers members of Paris Fashion Week to the Arab fashion industry and to create a bridge between the two fashion industries.
Names of the labels are confirmed and they will be showcasing at the Parisians in Dubai showroom space in Dubai. Here’s everything you need to know about the French creatives.
Boyarovskaya
A Paris based womenswear brand founded in 2016. A former designer for Givenchy and John Galliano, Maria Boyarovskaya, along with fashion photographer Artem Kononenko, is channeling her vast experience into modern wardrobe pieces. Simplicity is combined with unexpected cuts and deconstructed tailoring in the designs. Knits, slashed fabrics, and curved cuts are their signatures.
BLUEMARBLE
A menswear label founded by Anthony Alvarez in 2018 and based in Paris.
In every collection, Alvarez gets inspired by a different city or place as the label encapsulates ideas of unity of the earth and cultural diversity. This fusion of influences aspires to create a unique and universal language expressed through the designs.
DAWEI Studio
This label offers a wardrobe for women who want to express their personality, with a contemporary luxury silhouette that can be worn at any age. A graduate of the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture in Paris, DAWEI quickly joined the studios of major fashion houses with Balenciaga and John Galliano.
Mossi
It’s a “100% made in France” brand. The collections are produced in workshops of the suburb within the framework of a social and professional integration project, which is dear to the founder.
NEITH NYER
Founded in Paris in 2015, Francisco Terra named the label after his grandmother who taught him how to sew, also explained to him that designing clothes was not only a question of technical gestures. For her, it was a way to tell stories, to hand over legends to him. A bargain piece of garment bought in a suburban market is considered as much as an inspiration as a piece of art in some prestigious exhibition.
VICTORIA/TOMAS
This French ready-to-wear brand, founded by Victoria Feldman and Tomas Berzins in 2012, is a full-fledged line of wearable separates aimed at a new generation of modern, city-dwelling women, mixing both designers’ sensibilities.
Cool, eccentric, and neo-arty garments are definitely signature of this label.
