Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently announced that they are expecting their second child, thirty-seven years to the day after Princess Diana revealed she was pregnant with Harry. To celebrate this new announcement, we are taking you back to the 80s and in appreciation of the maternity looks Princess Diana rocked, during her two pregnancies.
More than twenty years after her tragic death in Paris, Princess Diana remains the world’s most influential style icon, and the obsession with her style shows no sign of slowing down: on the runways, references to the Princess of Wales are too many, and on Instagram, there are many fans accounts dedicated to her, tirelessly documenting her iconic and timeless looks. This fashion fiber even goes so far as to inspire her two daughters-in-law, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. The latter, who announced that she was expecting her second child, thirty-seven years to the day after Lady Di revealed to be pregnant with Prince Harry, wore a long and loose white dress by Carolina Herrera for the occasion. A design that recalls the chic and relaxed style of the late princess during her two pregnancies.
Forced to keep a busy schedule
While Meghan Markle broke the news through a photo where she appears relaxed, lying on the grass in California, Diana was forced to a busy schedule of royal engagements when her pregnancy was confirmed.
A variety of worked collars (from lavallière to ruffles), pastel colors, balloon sleeves are all the details she added to her flowing dresses during her pregnancy. There are so many details for us to be aware of and that she opted for in 1982 and 1984 during her royal obligations when she was respectively expecting Prince William and Prince Harry.
Here is our roundup of Princess Diana’s iconic maternity looks.
