Why You Should Be Into The Patchwork Trend

Not only the patchwork trend is eye-catching and cool, it is also sustainable, and it is making a comeback this spring and next summer. Trendsetters like Bella Hadid and Jeanette Madsen have been sporting patchwork pieces for months now, and we spotted this trend on runways as well. Indeed, Italian house Dolce & Gabbana has made patchwork the main theme of its Spring-Summer 2021 collection, called “Patchwork of Sicily”, and it’s contemporary, wearable and eccentric. A deluge of colors and a kaleidoscope of styles, where each piece is unique, made from fabrics from old collections of the house.
While Dolce & Gabbana has made patchwork its theme for the season, Chloé, Dior and Louis Vuitton went for subtlety, with very discreet patchwork. With sustainability becoming essential in the fashion industry, it only seems natural that the patchwork is thriving. The trend of quilted designs is indeed back not only because of the nostalgia of the 70s, but also in line with the awareness on recycling in fashion; and from denim to jackets, dresses and accessories, it’s time to invest in one of these vintage-inspired pieces. For today’s look, we wanted to show you how patchwork can be also chic; yes we know that you are probably wondering how this highly colorful and identifiable trend can be elegant. But trust us, when you choose the right patchwork staple and you style it with the perfect accessories, not only you will be making a fashion statement, you will also look elegant and modern. For today’s look, we went for a patchwork maxi dress and we toned it down with one of spring’s it-shoes and with a shoulder bag in a neutral shade. To make the look even more contemporary and chic, we added half-rim cat-eye acetate sunglasses by Linda Farrow and 18kt yellow gold earrings by Lebanese jewelry house L’Atelier Nawbar.
