The second of December is just around the corner. Not only a day that marks the occasion the UAE was formed in 1971, it is also the day that represents pride and honor to the Emirati citizens.
We’ve all witnessed the grand celebrations held across the country marking the event every year, but with Covid-19 restrictions, the country decided embracing technology to make sure Emiratis celebrate their day to the fullest. And we’re sure celebrations will be like no other despite all the challenges.
In its 49th year, the stacked patriotic stadium will be replaced by a no-audience celebration in Abu Dhabi, in a very bright production that will enter every single home in the Emirates.
Ambition, hope, optimism, beauty, embracing the country’s rich and valued legacy, were all added to technology in order to celebrate this year’s National day virtually, but in style and fun. The show, entitled “Seeds of the Union” will feature a moving sculpture inspired by the UAE’s history and values, representing every aspect and key of the Emirates.
"The narrative of the show artistically revolves around the growth and transformation of a seed into a shoot and then finally into full bloom, mirroring the journey the UAE has taken in the last 49 years."
Says Khalfan Al Mazrouei, member of the organizing committee.
What makes us even more excited is that the production was designed by a team of Emiratis and artistic director Es Devlin, known for creating large-scale performative sculptures and environments that fuse music, language and light.
