Although 2020 wasn’t what we expected, we still managed to get through it. However, inspiring souls were the ones to thank for being there when all of us needed some motivation, and Arab women were the most inspiring this year.
As the year draws to a close and 2021 is ahead, we are here to motivate you further by listing some of the most inspiring Arab women who had major achievements in 2020.
Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud
Her highness Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud has always been an ambitious business woman, a women empowerment advocator and an entrepreneur. This strong women who has been pushing boundaries for Saudi women in the Kingdom became Saudi Arabia’s first female ambassador in 2019, and kept moving forward to become the first Saudi woman to be appointed to the International Olympics Committee, in July 2020.
Princess Noura Bint Faisal Al Saud
The granddaughter of king Abdulaziz and Founder of the Saudi Fashion week, Princess Noura Bint Faisal remained committed to shedding the light on the fashion industry in the kingdom, and on the talented Saudi designers. In 2020, Princess Noura made the first fashion week in Saudi Arabia to come to life, organizing a first-time event with international standards and great international media coverage.
Huda Kattan
The self-made beauty mogul who founded an international beauty empire, Huda Beauty, never stops achieving and succeeding. The brand, unsurprisingly, retained its position ad the most in-demand cosmetics brand across the globe for 2020, according to Cosmetify Index, beating out huge market competitors such as Kylie Jenner’s brand.
Fatma Al Otaiba
Emirati entrepreneur and mother of five, Fatma Al Otaiba gave us a lesson on reaching our goals no matter what, as she launched her own luxury handbags line, Odeem. She made her dream come true, combining both dynamism and culture remaining faithful to her chic and elegant designs.
Elham Fadaly
In 2020, the physics world magazine announced that the Egyptian scientist and researcher Elham Fadaly and her team at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands won the Physics World 2020 Breakthrough of the year. Fadaly was the winner for making a silicon-based material with direct band-gap to emit light to transfer data.
Natacha Karam
Young Lebanese actress, Natacha karam, turned heads in her role as a marine named “Dizzy” in the Netflix movie “The old guard” with Charlize Theron. The rising star started her screen career in London, and we’ve already spotted her in Homeland (2011), The Brave (2017) and Lone Star (2020). She is next set to appear in the superhero movie Samaritan alongside Silvester Stallone. Definitely a talent to keep an eye on in 2021.
